Clever Clovers Hold Wee Care Meeting

Clever Clovers 4-H group met on June 21, 2010. Members met at Calvary Evangelical Church at the earlier time of 3:00p.m. Molly Gamble called the meeting to order. Pledges were led by Marie Markward. The roll call sheet was passed while Molly read last meetings minutes. Calendars were led by Marie Markward. Daniel Thompson then talked about Black Inc. Christine Erret adjourned the meeting and Haley Richardson seconded the motion. Snacks were served by Jasmine Defore and Hannah Bartley. Clever Clovers’ next meeting will be held at Calvary Evangelical Church on July 6, 2010. Members are asked to meet at 3:00p.m. After the meeting, Clever Clovers headed over to Wee Care Day Care for a service project. Members were asked to clean cots and pull grass around the fence. Clever Clovers would like to thank Wee Care for providing this opportunity.

Bunny Hoppers 4-H Club Hold Rabbit Judging Contest

June 21, 2010

Bunny Hoppers 4-H Club held a rabbit judging contest on June 10th at the Extension Office. There were six breeds of rabbits, with three of each breed. Members had to place three rabbits in order of how the rabbits conformed to the breed. Prizes were given to the members who placed the rabbits most correctly.

It was reported that the Spring Rabbit show was a success. Members were thanked for helping with the show and for showing their rabbits. Members were reminded that livestock judging this year is on July 26th at the Van Wert County Extension Office. Miscellaneous, foods and clothing with be judged on July 20th at Delphos Jefferson High School. Make-up judging is on July 15th for those who will be unable to attend regular judging days.

The next Bunny Hoppers meeting will be on Monday, June 21st at 6:30pm at the Extension Office. The club officers are planning a fun and educational meeting. Hope to see everyone there!

Ohio Challengers 4-H Club Meeting

June 21, 2010

Ohio Challengers 4-H Club members have been busy giving demonstrations and doing a community service project after each meeting. The service project includes picking up trash in Edgewood Park, where the summer club meetings are held. An excellent group of officers have been conducting the business and fun during the club meetings.

At the June 7th meeting, the following members gave a demonstration, a yearly requirement for all members. This includes: Jacob Wortman- gun safety; Karlee Trammell – cooking;  Joey Overmyer – evaluation of a rabbit; Sammi Overmyer – child development; Ian Zollars – Woodburning; Noah Daugherty – computers; Brandon Hudson – anatomy of a rabbit; and Paige Motycka – barrel racing with a horse.

Members were reminded about working at the Chicken barbeque on June 8th. They were also told to begin working in their 4-H project books as judging is only a month away. The next meeting with be on Tuesday June 22nd, at 1:00pm at Edgewood Park in Convoy.

Ohio Challengers sign the 4-H Picture

Mrs. Hancock called the meeting to order. Justin Gibson led the Pledge of Alliegance and Gene Gillespie led the 4-H pledge. Catlin called roll with topic of favorite book, it was answered by 52 members, 3 advisors, and 1 guest. Daniel Joseph gave the treasurers report and Chelsea Hancock gave her demonstration on scrapbooking.

Mrs. Wortman talked about project books, camp scholarships, and the Chicken BBQ. Heather Gottke had everyone sign the “In the Shape of 4-H” picture and also talked about camp, tagging, the fairbook, and answered any questions. Mrs. Wortman talked about the next meeting and the newspaper. Daniel Joseph called for demonstrations; the demonstrations were given by the following on the following topics: Claire Mefferd-Stretches, Sarah Klinger-Dairy (Cheese), Casey Gibson-Fishing reels, and Kaitlin Haffeldt-Scrapbooking imprints. Recreation was Simon Says. The next meeting is June 7th at Edgewood Park community building at 1 p.m. Demonstrations to be given are Sammi Overmeyer, Jacob Wortman, Ian Zollars, John Butora, Joey Overmeyer, Danica Hicks, Justin Gibson, and anyone else who missed their day or wants to make it for your camp scholarship points. Next meetings refreshments will be provided by Kaitlin Haffeldt, Ian Zollars, and John Butora. The meeting was adjourned by Mrs. Wortman for snacks and refreshments.
